Solid start to 2019 with a gorgeous road trip through Death Valley and Alabama Hills.

Saturday Scientific Dive.
Yesterday, 5 of us successfully deployed a YSI Multiparameter Sonde OX2 off the coast of Two Harbors, Catalina Island. The large OX2 was affixed to a mooring buoy chain at 60ft, and smaller thermographs were placed on the chain at 80ft, 40ft, and 20ft. The Catalina Marine Society will now be able to monitor water characteristics such as temperature, dissolved oxygen, chlorophyll, pH, and other metrics to keep tabs on the health of the ocean and its inhabitants.

Northern Canyonlands & Arches yesterday mark a completed “Big 5” National Parks adventure. Incredible 360° scenery throughout and between the parks, national monuments and other smartly protected public lands.
While I have cell reception and slow WiFi, here’s some TBTs from the week: Zion x2, Bryce Canyon x2, Capitol Reef x2, Canyonlands x2, and a disturbingly abandoned but agreeably graffitied RV.
Next up: Driving southwest through Monument Valley towards Antelope/Rattlesnake Slot Canyons and Coyote Buttes. Stay tuned 📺🤓
